The Common Sense Coalition gets its inspiration from Thomas Paine, the revolutionary thinker and activist known for his incisive commentaries on civic matters. Paine’s most famous pamphlet, Common Sense, mobilized public opinion in support of the American Revolution.
Written in powerful and accessible prose, Common Sense appealed to a broad cross section of people by espousing the ideals of individual freedom, greater intellectual liberty and political reform designed to secure these objectives. Paine opposed slavery, was one of the earliest proponents of social security, promoted universal free public education and fought for a guaranteed minimum wage for all workers.
In other words, he stood for jobs, justice and a brighter future!
